Spa | Description: According
to oral history handed down through the generations, early Hawaiians viewed Waikiki
as a place of hospitality and healing. Gray's Beach, fronting Halekulani, was
known for its healing waters, or kawehewehe. Hawaiians are known to have sought
relief from their ailments at this wondrous stretch of ocean which included a
freshwater channel that ran through the reef. In keeping with Halekulani's serene
environment of understated elegance, SpaHalekulani was designed to provide guests
with an all-enveloping experience, appealing to their inner-most senses and creating
a spa experience that promotes well being that goes way beyond skin deep - it
is an emotional, cultural and spiritual experience. Treatments
& Programs: The in-resident spa services are available to hotel guests. The
spa's experiences include facials, body treatments and hairstyling, as well as
manicures and pedicures that are exclusive to SpaHalekulani in both technique

Treatments & Programs: Hapai Massage - Soothing massage for the pregnant
ladies. Spa Facilities: Opened April
2003. Inspired by the rich cultures that have prevailed in Hawaii, SpaHalekulani
is the first spa to explore the healing traditions of the Pacific Islands including
Samoa, Tonga and Tahiti. Facilities include 3 manicure/pedicure stations, 7 treatment
rooms (including one bridal suite and one treatment room with Japanese style shower,
furo), 2 hairstyling stations, Indoor relaxation area, Outdoor relaxation veranda
and Retail shop. In perfect harmony with the interior design the spa evokes nostalgic
feelings of an era long ago. Oil paintings by renowned American artists, Shirley
Russell and Ben Norris, were inherited from the former Halekulani. Completing
the spa's theme of calm are images of Hawaii's beautiful flora and fauna by Big
Island artist Lani Yamasaki. Other architectural elements that accentuate the
Pacific cultures include simplified design of a sliding Japanese door, wooden
tropical grass window coverings, bamboo and tumbled pebble flooring. Finally,
the natural lighting against softly colored wall treatments creates a sense of
wellness, tranquility and timelessness. Other
Facilities: One-of-a-kind luxury Vera Wang Suite - The suite creates
a new "romantic modern" genre that captures, conveys and compliments
the spirit of comfort, romance and sensuality. The suite is a destination for
special experiences and occasions, including weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries
or romantic getaways. It encompasses 2,135 square feet of living space, is appointed
with Ms. Wang's favorite flowers and features the following: - Dining
Room: A fusion of both stylized and rustic, the room centers around a dark wood
Wenge table with dining room chairs draped in persimmon raw silk. The dining room
is set with Vera Wang china and crystal and is mixed effortlessly with an eclectic
tasseled chandelier.
- TV Lounge: This unique lounge, which features a 50"
plasma television by Sony, is the ultimate room for escape and relaxation. It
centers around two plush chaise lounges in bright sunflower yellow and decorative
pillows that incorporate fabrics from the Vera Wang ready-to-wear collection:
the designer's personal touch to the space.
- Bedroom: Painted in Ms. Wang's
signature color of soft lavender, the room is defined by its unique mix of fabric
textures and warm neutral tones. There are side tables made from rare and precious
palm wood and shagreen, an antique Asian moon screen, and a king size bed offering
a view of the striking Hawaiian sunrise.
- Bathroom: This intimate room
is about a layering of similar materials to create the unexpected. There is a
mirrored dressing table set against a mirrored wall, twin vanities, natural limestone
floor and a bathroom tub mirror sandblasted to create a filmy appeal.
- Entryway:
Upon entering the Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani, guests are immediately greeted
by a majestic view of the ocean. Soft teak walls and a vertical-grain bamboo floor
give this entrance a chic, tropical undertone while simultaneously setting the
stage for the complete luxurious experience.
- Lanai: The suite will feature
a 642-square foot ocean front lanai looking over Waikiki beach, the Pacific Ocean
and Diamond Head, which is the perfect place for total relaxation under the tropical
sun. In the evening hours, this is the ideal location for an extended romantic
dinner for two.
Living Room: Set in natural wood tones and highlighted by
saturated tropical colors, the room features comfortable deep sofas and chairs,
mixed with modern and decorative objects from around the world. Guests
who stay in the Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani have exclusive use of a private
pool cabana (debuting in early 2005), filled with a variety of special amenities
and serviced by a special Pool Butler. Other special services and amenities exclusive
to the Vera Wang Suite at Halekulani are presently in development. More
