Portugal's earliest cloistered communities, tracing its heritage to the
1300s, is the transformed setting for The Penha Longa Spa & Golf Resort
in the wooded countryside surrounding Sintra. Now managed by The Ritz-Carlton
Hotel Company, L.L.C., and owned by Deutsche Bank, the Estoril coast destination
resort completed a $25 million renovation in August 2005. Among the special
features added is a 16,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa housed in the original
convent on the Palace grounds, and featuring an Asian-themed treatment
garden.
Treatments and Programs:
Signature treatments include 'The Cloisters', Aromatherapy Associates
'Essence of Eden' and The Sensory Spa Journey - A unique variation of
four-hand massage from two highly skilled therapists that will work in
harmony to take you on a journey of the five senses and beyond. It is
a work of art that is a total body and mind encounter. We will present
you with a special gift so that you can enjoy the memory of this unique
experience at home. Massage Therapies (Aromatic Therapeutic Oils Massage,
Reiki Massage, Reflexology Massage, Sports Massage, Relax Massage, Shiatsu
Massage, Massages Package), Hair Services, Manicures (Express, Mini and
Deluxe), Nail Extensions, Nail Polish, Pedicures (Express, Mini and Deluxe),
Waxing.
Spa Facilities: The
16,000-square-foot Six Senses Spa is located within Penha Longa's historic
palace complex offering a haven of tranquility and inner peace. Within
a short walk from the main hotel building, the 1,500 sqm Spa presents
a wide range of sophisticated therapies and treatments with an holistic
approach for wellbeing, featuring: two dry treatment rooms, two wet treatment
rooms, two Thai massage rooms, one couples suite, one facial suite, and
three relaxation areas. Designed to lend a meditative and contemplative
ambience, the Six Senses Spa incorporates a number of water features,
such as: jacuzzi, plunge pool, wading pool, three mater waterfalls, platform
over the pool for T'ai Chi or Yoga, water cascade feature and two gazebos
for meditation or treatments.
