Cosmoprof North America 2005 Attracts
the Global Beauty Industry to Las Vegas - Hair, Cosmetics, Packaging
and Wellness Show Attracts 25,000+ Buyers and Beauty Professionals
From 34 Countries
LAS
VEGAS - (August 4, 2005) Cosmoprof North America, held at the
Mandalay Bay Convention Center July 24-26, brought companies from
all over the world together with buyers, distributors and professionals
to introduce new trends and ideas but most of all to help everyone
expand their businesses. Now in its third year in North America, Cosmoprof
North America is the only show to bring global beauty leaders under
one roof with the cutting-edge in hair care, skin care, cosmetics,
nails, spa, product development and packaging from every corner of
the globe.
More than 25,000 attendees filled four pavilions and
saw exhibits from more than thirty countries. A great success has
been recorded by the International buyers program organized by Cosmoprof
North America, bringing importers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada,
India, Mexico, Vietnam, Russia and Venezuela. In addition, thanks
to US Commercial Services, Brazil and Vietnam are bringing special
delegations.
Cosmoprof North America 2005 put the emphasis on business-to-business
and business was certainly done -- with more than 670 exhibitors
meeting with international buyers and distributors. From packaging
and sourcing - to education and inspiration, Cosmoprof North America
2005 has evolved into a destination show to discover, strengthen and
develop beauty resources.
"Thanks to four decades of experience in serving
the international beauty community at Cosmoprof Bologna, we are so
pleased to be able to bring our expertise to the North American market
and create a space where a company from Spain can meet importers and
distributors from the US but also from North and Central America"
said Laura Zaccagnini, director of international affairs and strategies
for Cosmoprof.
For salon/spa owners and managers, Cosmoprof North America
offers a different kind of trade show experience than traditional
"hair shows" offer. The show provides a unique business-to-business
environment light years away from the blaring music and frenetic activity
at hair shows. At Cosmoprof North America, salon/spa owners and managers
have a unique opportunity to source new lines and innovative products
they wont find anywhere else. Rather than technical education
in hair and nails, Cosmoprof North America offers business-focused
education on marketing, leadership, trends and more.
Education was key this year, with dozens of courses
and the return of the always successful Wellness Summit, a two-day
seminar within the show covering the fastest growing segment of the
beauty industry. From "Zone" diet author Dr. Barry Sears
to longevity coach Oz Garcia, the Wellness Summits speakers
covered dozens of topics for spa professionals. Beyond wellness, business
leaders benefited from education on marketing, leadership, distribution,
trends and more, including Youth Intelligences Jane Buckingham
and Tim Sanders presenting his best-selling Likeability Factor.
Through an alliance with internet resource www.beauty-on-line.com,
Cosmoprof North America was able to provide a packaging lounge on
the trade show floor, which provided both a space for private meetings
and additional resources such as advisors, computers, and access to
databases that provided detailed information about the cosmetics legislation
in more than 50 countries in the world.
Other key components included the annual state of beauty
and wellness report from Future Concept Lab, a multi-disciplinary
think-tank in Milan, Italy that is commissioned each year by Sogecos,
organizers of Cosmoprof Bologna to deliver a customized "observatory"
of beauty and wellness trends, based on data collected at retail locations
and spas on every continent -- from Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux,
France to Wild Fitness in Wasabi, Kenya.
The North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA), professional
hair cares single most important event of the year, was also
held in conjunction with Cosmoprof North America, on Sunday night,
July 26th. Saturday Night Lives Rachel Dratch hosted the lively
proceedings. Awards were presented in twelve categories, including
Student Hairstylist of the Year, Salon Team of the Year, Hairstylist
of the Year, Master Stylist of the Year, and Makeup Artist of the
Year. In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Sam
Brocato, president and artistic director of Brocato America and Bruno
Mascolo, founder, president and CEO of Toni&Guy/TIGI Linea USA,
Inc. was inducted into the NAHA Hall of Leaders for 2005.
We are so excited to see our vision for a marketplace
for global beauty becoming a reality, said Steve Sleeper, executive
director for the Professional Beauty Association, a partner in the
show. Next year, look for us to become even more focused on
making deals happen right on the tradeshow floor. It is a small world,
and thanks to Cosmoprof North America, its getting even smaller.
Cosmoprof North America 2006 is planned for July 16-18,
2006 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. Cosmoprof
North America is a production of North American Beauty Events LLC.
