The Spa Community Disaster Relief
Board from The Day Spa Association & International Medical Spa
Association (DSA/IMSA)
Union City , NJ September 8, 2005 - The Day Spa Association
& International Medical Spa Association (DSA/IMSA) are offering
their assistance to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
The spa community must band together to assist our brothers
and sisters that are so cruelly affected by nature's blow.
We have set up a Spa
Community Relief Board on both www.dayspaassociation.com &
www.medicalspaassociation.org for the industry to come together to
help in this time of need, to reach out to the thousands of people
who have been misplaced, as well as to relief workers who are giving
it all!
Let's open the doors to our spas in the areas evacuees
are being housed (rapidly expanding throughout the US ). Evacuees
and relief workers alike are without the simple things in life taken
for granted such as showers, washing their hair, etc. They will need
a little peace and relaxation, nurturing and help in rebuilding their
body and spirit.
Let's open our hearts, homes and businesses to help
those in our industry that have lost everything and are now faced
with the difficulties rebuilding their lives jobs, products,
equipment, credit.
Posting criteria:
Any member of the spa community who needs assistance
Members of the spa community who are willing
to offer shelter and/or employment to qualified displaced personnel;
resumes from spa employees who have been forced to relocate
Adopt a sister spa that has been hurt/devastated
- donate money, emotional support. All spas will experience slow business
due to so many clients being hurt. Those spas that are OK may want
to rent their down time such as Sundays or Mondays to the spas without
a location to service their small amount of clients to get at least
some income.
Spas that will open their doors to donate space
and services to displaced people as well as relief workers in the
area evacuees are being housed. Spas and product companies who are
willing to give free body care products and cosmetics to refugees
Suppliers to the spa industry who are willing
to offer spas that were affected by Hurricane Katrina assistance to
rebuild their businesses such as donation of equipment and products,
discounts, credit / deferred payment plans.
We urge you to do what you can to help. Please send
this announcement to your own list of industry contacts to spread
the word, and if possible, a link to this Relief Board on your website
(Day Spa Magazine & American Spa Magazine have already committed
to do so).
