Spa Places in the News Far East Meets Southwest at the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders Resort -Luxury Desert Hideaway Unveils New Spa Services and Golden Door Spa Casitas for 2005 in Response to Marked Increase in Fitness and Nutrition Bookings CAREFREE, Ariz. (Feb. 23, 2005) The AAA Five Diamond Boulders Resort & Golden Door® Spa A Wyndham Luxury Resort in Carefree, Ariz., has once again raised the bar. A trend setter in the spa industry since its opening in 2001, the Golden Door Spa continues to pioneer the resort spa experience by unveiling an enhanced spa menu for 2005. The newly added treatments and programs deepen the already comprehensive experience to spa veterans and newcomers. Simultaneously, the resort has introduced Golden Door Spa Casitas, which are custom tailored to the needs and interests of guests. We focused on current trends that we are seeing at the Golden Door Spa to create our new spa menu and brochure for 2005, said Lorraine Park, spa director of the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders. Weve seen a 30 percent growth in fitness and nutrition bookings in the past year and decided to expand our offerings with new health, lifestyle and fitness programs. In addition, we have added more treatments to meet the desires of guests looking to enhance their experience with longer, more ritualistic and reflective services. Taking the lead from the original Golden Door in Escondido, Calif., the Golden Door Spa at The Boulders has incorporated more Asian-inspired treatments to the menu, while also expanding the indigenous offerings for which the spa has been touted. New Spa Treatments for 2005 Golden Door Spa at The Boulders Shamanic Touch This alternative healing modality employs the techniques of the Shaman, establishing a dialogue between the ailing part of a clients body and the healer to determine the best method of healing. Held in The Boulders authentic Tipi, the treatment is a private one-on-one session between the guest and the Shaman. 80 minutes - $195 Needle & The Stone Performed by a Golden Door Spa acupuncturist and certified La Stone therapist, this treatment combines the art of the hot and cold stone in its most beneficial expression a restorative blend of acupuncture and therapeutic massage. 50 minutes - $190 Three treatments join the signature Turquoise Wrap on a brand new Beyond Indulgence insert, premiering within the brochure. These treatments are longer and more ritualistic in practice, allowing guests an enhanced and more deeply reflective experience. Red Flower Ritual Inspired by the traditional Japanese bathing ritual and the Golden Door Spa philosophy of rejuvenation, this progressive body treatment combines the therapeutic properties of flower oils and fruit essences with rich minerals and Asian-inspired massage. Cherry blossoms, mimosa, plum, passion flower and evergreen transport the guest into a world of total balance enhanced by energy-point pressure, bamboo and rice bran exfoliation, powerful anti-oxidant and Asian silk. 80 minutes $185 Add a Hanoi Mint Mineral Bath for an extra special touch. 110 minutes - $235 Golden Glow Designed exclusively for the Golden Door Spa and inspired by ancient Egyptian rituals, the Golden Glow combines pure gold mineral dust, royal pollen extract, marine minerals, herbs and Egyptian chamomile to rejuvenate the skin. 80 minutes - $185 Chocolate Champagne Wrap This age-defying body treatment activates the five senses with a full-body masque of anti-oxidants, green tea and luscious warmed chocolate. Spa champagne activates the rejuvenating elements before a gentle rinse of aromatic polishing cream and vanilla mist. All products are free of preservatives, fragrance or dyes, so theyre perfect for even the most sensitive skin. 75 minutes - $185 Separate Menu for Men Park has also seen an increase in the number of male bookings since the Golden Door opened its doors in 2001, with men making up less than 20 percent of the clientele at that time. In 2004, this number jumped to 29.2 percent. For this reason, she has introduced a companion insert to the brochure, entitled, For Men Only. The separate menu makes it especially convenient for male clientele to make spa appointments. Treatments include Ashiatsu, an adaptation of an ancient form of barefoot massage, which involves the therapist holding onto bars attached to the ceiling. Also featured are the Gentlemans Facial, Golfers Massage, Personal Training, a Just for Him spa package, Sport Pedicure and Nutritional Counseling for Men. Emphasis on Nutrition Eight pages of the new brochure are dedicated to lifestyle, health and fitness, always a hot topic for the New Year. Twenty new services in nutrition make their debut on the 2005 Golden Door Spa menu at The Boulders. Examples include Designing Your Diet, Six-Week Weight Loss Challenge, Anti-Aging Nutrition, Memory Enhancement, Holistic Stress Management, Osteoporosis & Womens Health, Golden Door Health & Beauty Secrets and Fight Fat After Forty. New Golden Door Spa Casitas The new spa menu of services at The Boulders makes it easy for guests to subscribe to a healthy lifestyle while on vacation. Also new is the introduction of Golden Door Spa Casitas, specialized accommodations offering additional peace and tranquility through special amenities. The Golden Door Spa Casitas immerse guests into the complete spa experience, said Park. Guests are offered a retreat that embodies healthy living for the entirety of their stay with accommodations, recreational activities through the Golden Door Spa and nutritious dining options at the resort.
