Emerson Resort Premiers Serene Silk
Road-Inspired Spa - New Hudson Valley Spa Offers Tranquil Oasis
MT. TREMPER, N.Y., March 21, 2007 Since Emerson
Resort & Spa opened on March 16, a mere two hours from New York
City, guests have been transported back to the days of the Great Silk
Road in the resorts exclusive spa, steeped in Asian flair. The
spa menu includes eastern and western treatments including Ayurvedic
rituals (roughly translated from Indian as Science of Life),
massage therapies, facials and skin care, hydro therapies, salon services
and packages.
As guests enter the spas impressive 17th century
Rajasthani palace doors just off the resort lobby, they immediately
feel a sense of calm and peace. Inspiration was gleaned from surrounding
Buddhist monasteries and spiritual centers of Hudson Valley an
area that boasts one of the largest concentrations of Buddhist centers
in North America. Designed under the supervision of Spa Director Susan
Keene, the spa was created to have an organic feel and designers incorporated
slate, dark woods and bamboo with new pieces and antiquities to give
guests a centered, warm and cozy feeling. I didnt want to
build a marble palace, says Keene. I envision a center for
beauty and relaxation, encouraging guests to become immersed in the
spa experience and really make a difference in their lives whether
it is through lifestyle enhancing lectures, exercise classes, or wellness-focused
treatments. This is about more than simply getting a massage.
Among the offerings of the spa are Ayurvedic treatments,
which utilize individualized therapeutic measures relating to physical,
mental, social and spiritual harmony. A variety of spa services and
packages are also offered including couples massage, Shiatsu, manicure/pedicure,
waxing, hot stone massage, Vischy and Swiss showers, pre-natal packages,
warm mud wraps, Bindi herbal body treatments and gender-specific treatments.
Spa services are offered in 10 treatment rooms, and two outdoor cabanas
large enough for couples. Additional spa amenities include a resistance
pool, relaxation room, two yoga studios with instructor-lead classes,
an indoor whirlpool, well-appointed locker rooms, the spa café,
a 1,500 square-foot fitness center featuring Nautilus equipment, exercise
classes, and guest lectures.
The spas signature treatments all include some form
of ginseng, as American ginseng is native to the Hudson Valley region.
American ginseng was exported so heavily from the region it was almost
farmed out. Now there are only a few places in Hudson Valley that grow
ginseng and the locations are so guarded that people who want
to see it are lead blindfolded to the fields! Signature treatments include
the Emerson Signature Massage, featuring two technicians massaging with
poultice packs and warm herb and ginseng infused oils; the Emerson Signature
Ginseng & Pearl Powder Facial; Hot & Cold Circuit hydrotherapy
treatment with ginseng infused essential oils; the Hot Herbal Linen
Wrap using ginseng-based herbal-soaked linens; and the Hand Rejuvenation,
an anti-aging peel treatment including a ginseng and pearl powder mask.
Emerson Resort & Spa features the new Inn and Spa;
the family-friendly 27-room Adirondack-style Lodge; a Country Store
inside a beautifully restored barn and filled with creative, inspired
items; the Catamount Banquet Center, an ideal location for wedding and
special events; and the Conference Center, with more than 5,000 square
feet of meeting space. The new Inn and Spa replaces the original Emerson
Inn which was named the Most Outstanding Inn in North American by Conde
Nast Johansens in 2005 and its spa was New York States only Mobil
Four-Star spa located outside Manhattan. Overlooking the Esopus Creek
and one of the areas most majestic peaks, Mount Tremper, this
exceptional retreat is within minutes of Woodstock, Rhinebeck and skiing
and winter/summer outdoor adventures at Belleayre Mountain. An easy
two hours drive from New York City, though seemingly a million miles
away, the Emerson Resort & Spa is a convenient destination that
provides an easy escape from the New York metro area and is two hours
or less from four major airports. For more information please visit
