ESPA at Solís Palmyra Resort & Spa Will off Offer Treatments Inspired
by Jamaican Plants and Herbs

03, 2009 - Solís The Palmyra Resort & Spa is set to unveil the launch
of its one-of-a-kind ESPA Spa in June 2009. The stand-alone 30,000 square-foot
indoor and outdoor two-story spa, a destination unto itself, is the first ESPA
in the area and promises to be the Caribbean’s best, setting a new standard
for the region.
Founded by luxury spa authority Susan Harmsworth,
ESPA is lauded throughout the world for its holistic, therapeutic approach to
achieving long-lasting health benefits that go beyond mere pampering. At Solís
The Palmyra Resort & Spa, ESPA features luxurious heat experiences, the Hibiscus
Tea Lounge, relaxation rooms, 14 treatment rooms, three private suites, a fitness
center, finishing studio, hair salon and two outdoor pools with relaxation areas.
Inspired
by aromatherapy, phytotherapy and the thalassotherapy traditions of European,
Asian and Ayurvedic philosophies and native Jamaican ingredients, ESPA has created
signature journeys that authentically resonate with the Caribbean Island. The
spa also provides an array of women’s and men’s body and facial treatments
and massages. Additional indigenous touches are felt and seen throughout, including
the welcome refreshment, the locally-crafted beaded wristbands provided to guests
upon check-in, as well as the staff uniforms that reveal African symbols that

ESPA EXPERIENCE
ESPA’s design reflects
a modern interpretation of the British-inspired architectural heritage of the
West Indies. Natural finishes and earth tones of green, beige, gray and black
evoke a feeling of the Caribbean and a real sense of place. Guests entering the
spa are ushered into a serene refuge that activates each of the senses with bespoke
aromatherapy, lighting and music. ESPA encourages guests to arrive at least 45
minutes before their treatment in order to partake of the heat and cool experiences.
Alternating between hot and cold by means of Experiential Rain Showers, Finnish
Saunas, an Aromatic Steam Room and the crushed ice fountain, it physiologically
lowers the heart rate, relaxing the body before therapy. Guests may also relax
in ESPA’s Hibiscus Tea Lounge, or its Relaxation Lounge where individual
reading lamps and personal music selections are available.
ESPA
therapists are renowned as the highest trained in the industry and must possess
previous experience before receiving ESPA’s rigorous five week training program,
where continuing education is also offered. Therapists are taught in-depth about
the body's systems and how to balance them, depending on the individual, as well
as on advanced massage techniques, phytotherapy, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy and
thalassotherapy, and other valuable topics. Everything from a guest’s body
shape, speech and walk, to food preferences are considered in order to determine
their needs, which can often differ from their wants. Most treatment rooms have
private showers and boast private balconies with views of lush tropical gardens
or towering mountains. The spa’s three private suites offer an outdoor terrace
and each include a steam room, shower, changing area and deep soaking bath. After
their treatment, guests are invited to the spa’s oceanfront terrace for further
rest and relaxation.
