The
Palms South Beach to Debut as The Palms Hotel & Spa Featuring First Aveda
Luxury Beach Resort Spa and Essensia Restaurant & Lounge
Miami
Beach, FL (February 3, 2009) - The Palms South Beach is entering a new era with
two fresh, eagerly anticipated venues and a new name - The Palms Hotel & Spa.
The tropical, boutique style property, which for years has been recognized for
its charm and off-the-beaten-path luxury feel, is taking its guest experience
to an unprecedented level in early 2009 with the addition of a new Aveda concept
spa, The Palms Spa, and a signature restaurant and lounge, Essensia.
The
243-room, independently owned and operated hotel is undergoing a multi-million
dollar renovation that will combine sensory and holistic experiences designed
to provide the guest with a complete and genuine sense of well-being. Its lush
tropical landscaping and unique, secluded, oceanfront ambience provide the ideal
environment for guests seeking a destination getaway outside the hustle and bustle,
yet within walking distance, of South Beach.
Multi-phase renovations
will update the hotel's public areas and guest rooms, commencing with new meeting
spaces, new lobby furnishings, an exterior face-lift, and pool area renovations,
which are scheduled for completion by April 2009. Upgrades to all guest rooms
will be finalized in Spring 2010.
The Palms Hotel & Spa
is currently offering a book-in-advance promotion, Book Today, Save in a Big Way.
Guests who reserve a two-night stay through November 30, 2009 (reservation must
be made on or before April 15, 2009) will receive their 3rd night free as well
as a $100.00 resort credit redeemable at The Palms Spa and/or Essensia restaurant
and lounge. To take advantage of this great promotion, call the hotel at 1.800.550.0505
(select blackout dates apply).
"What has always set our
hotel apart is its definitive island feel married with the world-class services
and amenities of a city centre hotel," says Katja Janzon, VP of Marketing
at the Palms Hotel & Spa. "We've now taken this to yet another level,
offering a natural and genuinely relaxing experience in a luxuriously casual environment."
The
Palms Spa will be Aveda's first luxury beach resort spa in the U.S. The 5,000-square
foot facility will feature holistic treatments and rituals designed to deliver
a highly personalized experience. Facilities will include a series of multi-purpose
rooms including a couple's suite with experience snail shower, an indoor/outdoor
relaxation area with steam room, poolside treatment cabanas, a beauty salon, a
fitness room, and an Aveda retail area. Spa guests will have direct access to
the hotel's tropical gardens, pool and beach area. The Palms Spa fully subscribes
to Aveda's mission of caring for the world, from their pure and responsibly farmed
product lines to the belief that true beauty is one that works in harmony with
the greater web of life and nature. The Palms' Seven Sensory Rituals incorporate
elements of touch, smell, sight, sound, and taste, designed to embrace each guests'
personal sense of wellbeing. The Palms Spa is due to launch in April 2009.
Led
by the hotel's culinary team - Food & Beverage Director Maria Bond and Executive
Chef Gerd Richter - the Essensia restaurant and lounge concept will focus on natural
gourmet dining, combining the fresh and light style of Mediterranean cuisine with
the liveliness of Floridian fare. Menu items will embody the pure essence of taste
- the simplicity and joy of experiencing savory natural and wholesome cuisine
presented in a vibrant and sophisticated way. Spa cuisine selections are composed
to be low in calories and high in nutritional value, and organic selections highlight
organically farmed produce and core ingredients.
An innovative
Indulgence lounge menu will showcase an interactive bar menu with unique tasting
selections and signature cocktails made from fresh, tasty ingredients and pure,
at times organic spirits. Essensia will feature an intimate indoor dining room
and al-fresco seating under The Palms' covered terrace and poolside deck. Its
adjacent lounge presents a floating, glowing bar, and plenty of space for both
inside and outside lounging. Inspired by the nature surrounding the hotel, Essensia's
ambience is sensuously sophisticated and graciously comforting - the perfect composition
for dining and lounging with a natural flair. Essensia's opening is scheduled
for March 2009.
