$6.5 million Accista Spa is Now Open June
29, 2009 - The long-awaited gem of the property’s $60 million total transformation,
this 12,000 square foot state-of-the-art destination sanctuary on the Monterey
Peninsula draws inspiration from the surrounding vibrant natural landscape, local
history and rhythms of the changing seasons to present a warm, restful ambiance
and indigenously-inspired treatments that capture the essence of beautiful Monterey.
Concept: Taken from the Ohlone’s
name for their home of Monterey, the concept of Accista Spa, pronounced {“ah-KEY-stah
“} draws insight from the seasonal continuum of nature and the native people’s
respect for the seasonal cycle of harvest, rest, renewal and abundance. - Signature
Treatments: Anchored by “The Accista Continuum” of the Spring Cycle,
Summer Cycle, Autumn Cycle, and Winter Cycle, Accista Spa reflects the seasonal
cycles of Monterey. All-day and half-day results oriented treatments packages
incorporate Signature Seasonal Scrubs, Soaks and Wraps for cleansing, calming,
restoring and enriching. Custom-created spa products similarly reflecting the
local harvest with elements of acorn, fennel and artichoke; California poppy and
clover; horsetail & elderberry; as well as, Monterey-centric elements, such
as organic seaweed, algae, and marine minerals.
- Design: Contemporary,
Comfortable & Natural - Virtually 100% custom-created, Accista Spa’s
design draws from Monterey’s colors, seasons and natural beauty. Four elements
of metal, wood, stone, and glass overlap and work off one another, contrasting
warm colors, natural textures, and bright sunlight bring the outdoors in.
- Signature
Features: Ten spa treatment rooms – six spacious single-treatment rooms
and four couples spa suites. Generously-designed at almost 350 square feet, each
with natural light, a fireplace and relaxation area for two, and side-by-side
massage tables, the spa suites are the only ones of their kind on the Monterey
Peninsula. Luxuriously-sized at 500 sq-ft+, the specialty Couples Suite, also
includes a large, freestanding sculptural soaking tub with ceiling mounted tub
filler. Full-service salon, custom mani-pedi bar, men’s & women’s
locker rooms with custom steam rooms.
- Green: renewable, sustainable
and recyclable products include extensive cork flooring, eco-friendly Fire Company
fireplaces, sustainable textiles made of recycled products.
