Spa Treatments - Guests choose Liberal" or "Conservative"
Therapies for State of Well-Being
WASHINGTON, D.C., September 25- The Spa
at Mandarin Oriental, Washington, D.C., the new 10,400-square
foot Zen oasis on the banks of the Tidal Basin, is introducing special
spa treatments in honor of the 2004 election season.
"The Body Politic," with its lighthearted political theme,
offers genuine, therapeutic spa treatments, packaged for the politically
minded by Mandarin Oriental's spa therapy manager, Bonnie Baker. Ms.
Baker developed the package to highlight attention to the stresses
that election season can bring, and offer solutions to help "ease
tensions" at the resplendent new Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Washington
D.C.
The non-partisan "Body Politic" package offers both "Liberal"
and "Conservative" experiences, and both include foot rituals,
aromatherapy and extensive massage. The body treatments offer a twist:
each is uniquely designed with characteristics attributed to either
political philosophy.
The "Body Politic, Liberal experience" will offer the opportunity
"to change and reform the body's constitution with a free-flowing,
exotic Balinese massage," says Baker. Organic aromatherapy products,
in harmony with environment, are used throughout. The "Body Politic,
Conservative Experience" promotes "well-being through more
traditional, deep-tissue massage techniques, stimulating muscles to
help promote a sense of inner strength." A gentle facial for
sensitive skin is also part of the Conservative program.
Each of "The Body Politic" treatments, whether Liberal
or Conservative, is 3 hours and costs $390.00, inclusive of 18% gratuity
and local tax. These special "election season" treatments
are available through Inauguration Day 2005, (January 20, 2005). For

The Liberal Experience:
-
Welcoming Foot Ritual (10 minutes)
All guests are invited to leave politics at the door in this traditional
welcome.
Individual needs will be assessed at this time.
-
Full Body Exfoliation using an Aloe-Spearmint Body
Scrub (20 minutes)
This exfoliation fosters change, allowing the body to rid itself
of the old, to welcome the new. Perfectly rounded Apricot kernels
are used as the exfoliating medium, stimulating circulation and
lymphatic flow. Organic spearmint is helpful in removing tension
and aloe is a natural humectant for the skin.
-
Balinese Massage (80 minutes)
This exotic treatment begins with hot oil poured onto the body.
Elongated, sweeping movements spread the oil along the whole body
and then massage it into the skin. This generous approach, combined
with flowing strokes, gentle stretching and luxurious aromatherapy
oils provide a sense of total relaxation and well-being.
-
Re-Hydrator Facial Cleansing (50 minutes)
This facial is an excellent regenerating boost for normal and dry
skin. Balancing and rejuvenating, this facial uses abundant organic
cleansers to create a refined, refreshed, and radiant new look.
The Conservative Experience:
-
Welcoming Foot Ritual (10 minutes)
All guests are invited to leave politics at the door in this traditional
welcome.
Individual needs will be assessed at this time.
-
Full Body Exfoliation (20 minutes)
Guests choose from either Invigorating or Relaxing Salt and Oil
Scrub. The pure marine salts provide deep exfoliation, uncovering
fresh, new, radiant skin.
-
Full Body Deep Tissue Massage (80 minutes)
Combining deep pressure, hot stones and aromatherapy oils, this
traditional treatment is ideal for those experienced in massage.
The deep-tissue work is strong and not for the faint-hearted. It
will help to fully release the deep-seated patterns of tension and
resistance that build up every day.
-
The De-Sensitizer Facial (50 minutes)
Soothing, de-sensitizing natural plant extracts and aromatherapy
oils are used to gently cleanse, nourish and hydrate sensitive skin
to reduce sensitivity and to calm high color, leaving the skin nourished
and comfortable.
Ms. Baker has also prepared "at home" spa product gift
packages for the Liberal and Conservative treatments, available for
purchase at the Spa. Each package incorporates spa products in patriotic
red, white and blue colors, such as red clay masks, blue eye gel and
