The Spa at River's Edge is First
on Seacoast with Massaging Light Therapy
New Non-Invasive Procedure Produces Immediate Anti-Aging Results
Kennebunk ME (February 21, 2004) -- We seek only
the best of the best when selecting products and therapies for The Spa
at River's Edge, said founder Lori Solari. Our goal is producing
results with our clients and the Massaging Light Therapy is a perfect
example of that philosophy. This week 'Oprah' featured a variety of skin
rejuvenating treatments including collagen injections and a process called
Thermage. Massaging Light Therapy is an exciting advancement over both
of these invasive procedures. We are pleased to be the first to offer
this new state of the art therapy on the Seacoast.
The Spa at River's Edge, a luxury destination day spa in Kennebunk, is the
first on the Seacoast and the first in Maine and New Hampshire to offer
Massaging Light Therapyto their clients. The procedure has
been in use since early January, by both staff therapists and their
skincare clients and is producing results already.
Medical researchers have explored the beneficial effects of sunlight,
ultraviolet light and ruby lasers in health therapies for decades. In
the process of this intensive research they have discovered that a seemingly
simple and extremely benign treatment produces dramatic effects on aging
skin. While researching the use of light to treat skin cancer, Dr. Colin
Whitehurst at the Christie Hospital in Manchester England discovered
light had a rejuvenating effect, stimulating the production of collagen.
Among the converts to this new type of light therapy is actress Michelle
Pfeiffer.
The procedure is completely non-invasive and requires none of the 'down
time' that such treatments as laser treatments or surgery do. The Massaging
Light Therapy generates intense red light through large and small wands
that are slowly massaged across the face, neck, or other area of focus.
The wave length of the light reaches the collagen-producing layer under
the skin, causing the cells to jump-start their own natural production
of the collagen that makes skin soft and elastic. The treatment is not
ultraviolet (these and other harmful wave lengths are screened out,
which is why the light is red) and works in reducing wrinkles, eliminating
acne scars and restoring a healthy glow. The light therapy is also effective
in eliminating discoloration from rosacea or age spots.
The recommended regimen of Massaging Light Therapy is 4 to 6 sessions;
but clients are seeing immediate results after just one session. The
licensed aestheticians at The Spa at River's Edge who provide the service
recommend a combination of Massaging Light Therapy and Alpha-Beta peel
or micro-dermabrasion for optimal results. The cost is $175 for a one
hour session. For more information, call The Spa at River's Edge (www.spaatriversedge.com)
