Mandarin Oriental, Miami Brings New Health and Wellness Therapies to the Spa

Miami, March 29, 2004 – The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Miami, a luxury sanctuary for the mind, body and soul, has enhanced its health and wellness services with the addition of a registered dietician and acupuncturist to its elite spa therapy team.

Betsy Allison Klein, a registered licensed dietician who holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics and nutrition, will work closely with guests to explore a healthier lifestyle through a personalized nutrition plan. Individuals who desire to lose weight, develop a balanced lifestyle and learn about nutrition and exercise will significantly benefit from this program. Klein will also be available every third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon during The Spa’s “Ask the Dietician” workshop.

Private consultations are conducted in The Spa’s intimate and tranquil Chi Studio. Cost is $120 for initial session (75 mins) and $100 for follow-up sessions (50 mins).

Embracing its exotic Oriental roots, The Spa introduces the preventative healing treatment of acupuncture with the appointment of Dr. Tiffany Wood, a licensed acupuncturist who has a master’s degree in Oriental Medicine and Psychology.

Practiced for over 2,500 years in China, acupuncture is part of the holistic system of traditional Chinese medicine, which views health as a constantly changing flow of energy or qi. Acupuncture treats a full range of diseases, infections and immune system disorders by using acupuncture needles to conduct the flow of energy to stabilize the body back to harmony.

Treatments will be performed in one of The Spa’s spacious private suites overlooking Biscayne Bay. Cost is $130 and includes consultation and evaluation and an acupuncture treatment (60 mins).

“We are extremely delighted to bring innovative services to the spa, which complements our existing spa treatment program,” said Osa Mallo, spa director. “We look forward to provide our guests with experiences that significantly enhance their overall well-being.”

For more information or reservations, please contact The Spa directly on (305) 913-8332 or visit Mandarin Oriental, Miami’s web site at www.mandarinoriental.com.

The Spa ideally complements the luxurious facilities at Mandarin Oriental, Miami. Contemporary in design and with a prominent waterfront location, the 327-room hotel includes two high-energy restaurants, a dynamic Lobby Lounge, M-Bar – a martini bar and champagne bar, extensive meeting and business facilities and Miami’s most spacious rooms and suites, offering dramatic views of the bay and ocean.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Miami has been designed to reflect the exceptional levels of attention to detail and the standards of service that is intrinsic to Mandarin Oriental worldwide, drawing on its renowned experience with its sister spas such as The Oriental Spa in Bangkok and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental in London.

Mandarin Oriental is the award-winning owner and operator of some of the world’s most prestigious hotels and resorts. The Group operates 19 luxury hotels in key business and leisure destinations, with a further five hotels under development in Chiang Mai, Thailand (opening late 2004); Hong Kong and Riviera Maya, Mexico (opening 2005); Tokyo and Boston (opening 2006). In total, Mandarin Oriental now operates, or has under development, 7,500 rooms in twelve countries with 12 hotels in Asia, nine in The Americas and three in Europe.
