the Photo Gallery Description: The
Inn at Perry Cabin, a luxurious manor house resort, is located in the Victorian
resort town of St. Michaels on the Eastern shore of Maryland. Steeped in history,
this colonial mansion exudes calm and elegance, the perfect hideaway. The spa
is named after the large Linden trees that line the brick driveway leading to
the hotel, whose blooms are used in many of the spas signature treatments.
Linden Spas focus is on the botanical art of wellness, harnessing
the healing powers of local plants and herbs. The spa is grounded in the long-standing
tradition of the apothecary, which was always strong in the Baltimore area in
times past. To reflect this, treatment rooms are named after local flowers and
trees that are known for their healing properties: Linden; Bayberry; Violet; Lemon
Verbena; Rose; Marigold; and Lavender. Treatments
& Programs: Linden Spa treatments focus on pampering, rejuvenation
and wellness. The signature treatment is The Linden Ritual. This spa journey begins
by infusing linden flowers, black birch, sage, blackberry leaves, eucalyptus and
rosemary into an herbal mixture with which the body is wrapped, allowing the guest
to drift into a gentle sleep state as the body detoxifies. The lifting of toxins
continues with a local salt and linden flower honey scrub. After being led to
the cleansing alcove and draped in a towel, a shower with an herbal bath awakens
and purifies body and spirit. The experience then continues back on the warm treatment
table, where a four-handed massage of renewal is performed on the body. Other
standout treatments include: Five Flower Solace, in which five local flowers are
infused into white clay to create a soothing, aromatic herbal mixture that is
slowly massaged into the skin; the Botanical Complex Facial, a completely organic
treatment of natural herbs and flowers customized to each persons individual
skin type; and the Youthful Renewal Facial, which combines the innovative science
of bio-peptides - specific compound blends of complex amino acid protein extracts
(the building blocks of healthy skin) - with gentle, natural application methods
to increase oxygen supply to the skin and improve the moisture level. Spa
Facilities:The 6,000 square-foot Linden Spa has been being built in
the same Colonial style of architecture as The Inn at Perry Cabin, in a palate
of cream, brown and blue accented with botanical prints. The relaxation room will
be decorated with panels of pressed flowers harvested from the Inns lush
grounds. While at the spa, guests will be able to rest in the indoor or outdoor
relation rooms, take a dip in the infinity edge pool, detoxify in a steam room,
find harmony in a yoga class, fine tune their fitness routine with a personal
trainer or find that little pampering something to take home at the spas
own apothecary. Other Facilities: The
Inn at Perry Cabin has 80 guest rooms, each individually decorated in either a
traditional style indicative of the historic section of the Inn, or in a style
that evokes the contemporary Maryland seaside with a mixture of modern and period
furniture and a palate of taupes, soft blues and ivories. The restaurant, decorated
in a nautical style, overlooks the waterfront, and boasts award-winning cuisine.
The serene landscape of water and sky is complemented by intricate and exquisite
grounds, which include brick lanes and arches, white columns, lavish gardens,
pathways, and a horizon edge outdoor pool. Eco-Friendly
Practices: The Inn at Perry Cabins Wetlands Restoration project
demonstrates an ongoing commitment to the environment. Working with biologists
and landscape engineers the restoration of the wetlands benefits the community
and the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay. The wetland project cost more than
$500K and involved digging out of what had become an old dumping ground and removing
years of trash (old car parts, land fill, etc). An inlet of water (tidal pool)
was then constructed and the two acre area was planted and seeded with native
grasses which now act as a natural filter for the bays water. The area attracts
a variety of wild life and birds. An osprey platform was also constructed in hope
that this endangered bird will choose this spot as her annual roost. Restoration
of the native wetlands around the Chesapeake Bay is a major concern for all that
lives in the area as the grasses provide an important habitat for native animals
and birds and also helps in the natural cleaning of the brackish water of the
bay. The Inn at Perry Cabin is proceeding with an additional project on the North
side of the property as a further commitment. The tidal pond located in front
of the South wing of the hotel is wetlands area that has been designed in conjunction
with Mother Nature. The area is a favorite of birds, small crabs, frogs and, of
course visiting children. Linden
