January 6, 2009 - I just returned from Atlantic City and got a sneak peak of Sea Spa at the Chelsea. The hotel opened last summer, the first non-gaming hotel to open on the Boardwalk since the 1960s. The hotel is a rebirth and unique joining of the old Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson hotels and has two distinct room offerings. Chelsea Luxe rooms and suites, located in the 20-story tower, are sleek, modern and luxurious. Chelsea Lite rooms, located in the low rise tower, are playful and hip with vintage decor.

The Chelsea offers two signature Stephen Starr restaurants. Chelsea Prime, located on the 5th floor, is an upscale steakhouse with indoor and outdoor seating and fabulous views. Teplitzky’s, named for the hotel’s original proprietors, offers diner-inspired food (delicious mac and cheese!) in a setting right out of the 1940's with original terrazzo floors, redwood walls and cantilevered stools.

The Chelsea's Fifth Floor, open to all, is designed for socializing with the Living Room, the Bar, the Game Room (stocked with loads of board games) and the Terrace Lounge, the defacto location for the over-21 crowd seeking a sophisticated, hip experience outside of the casinos.

The Chelsea is located right on the beach and offers the only full beach service in Atlantic City, providing luxurious towels, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and food and beverage service exclusively for guests of the Chelsea.

Located on the ground floor adjacent to the hotel's year-round outdoor saltwater pool is the Chelsea’s 10,000-square-foot luxury Sea Spa (opening April 2009). Sea Spa features ten private treatment rooms, including two Vichy wet-treatment rooms and a co-ed Social Sauna with whirlpools, a sauna, and steam room.
