Spa Facilities: The 5,000 square-foot Gaia has three large esthetic rooms and six spacious multipurpose rooms. The esthetic rooms are large enough to accommodate two therapists for clients, who frequently want multiple services done at one time. Three of the multipurpose rooms are equipped with tubs—two soaking tubs and one jetted hydrotherapy tub—and wet/dry Finnish saunas. One room is large but plain for guests who want only massage services. Shiatsu is available in the yoga studio.For the convenience of guests, one esthetic room and two multipurpose rooms are also equipped with stall showers.

Eco-Friendly Practices: A Green Spa Network Founding Seed Spa. GAIA Spa is committed to finding and providing the finest skin care products free of synthetic chemicals, parabens, harsh surfactants, dyes and fragrance. Everything we put on our skin is absorbed. Ethical and aware cosmetic manufacturers are innovating to produce fabulous skin care rich in the nutrients we need and safe for us and our precious environment.

Ban styrofoam and minimize non-sustainable tree products. Replace them with potato or sugar cane hot cups and corn based cold cups. These are biodegrade and can be composted. And, it is time to say bye-bye to single use plastic bags and replace them with biodegradable, compostable and reusable corn based bags. These are the choices GAIA has made.

Organic fruit and vegetables are at least five times richer in anti-oxidants - this is the quality you will find at GAIA in all treatments and refreshments.

According to LOHAS, one non-organic cotton t-shirt requires 1/3 cup of pesticide and fertilizer to produce. Hmmm….how about bamboo? This is a sustainable crop, harvested to produce luxuriously soft textiles that are anti-bacterial and anti-fungal! Perfect towels for our ocean climate!

GAIA is cleaned and maintained with earth and people friendly products. A local company, Naked Clean, is the first eco-friendly commercial cleaner in the area.

GAIA's administrative offices are cooler after replacing incandescent bulbs with mercury free low voltage florescent bulbs. And the practice of unplugging appliances rather than simply turning them off reduces phantom energy use.

Incredibly in 2007, except for paper and cardboard, La Jolla still does not have a recycling pick up in the business district. GAIA delivers all recyclable plastic, metal and glass to the pick up at Von's grocery.
